Soundpeats Sonic TWS Review: Gamer’s Rejoice!!!

I am so excited to review this baby because of the promotional picture showing a different design direction and game mode. Is it any good? Without any further delay, let the games begin!

What's in the box:

  • 1 charging cable (USB type-c)

  • 1 charging case

  • 2 pair of silicone ear tips

  • 1 pair of Soundpeats Sonic

  • 1 user manual

  • 1 warranty card

Built, Feature & Design:

The case is space gray (Macbook pro) with a rose gold (macbook 12") wavy accent separating the lid. Once opened, we are greeted by a rose gold Soundpeats logo with light up "S" (orange when returning to the case for charging and white when pairing). There is one LED light indicator for battery life (Green = 100%-50%, amber = 49%-10% and red below 10%). While charging it will indicate charging stages as well by flashing those 3 colors mentioned and solid green once reach 100%. In short, Soundpeats has definitely stepped-up their case game drastically from their first-gen lineup like the TrueCapsule, TrueDots, etc…

The earbuds have the same color theme as the case which is awesome and fit quite well compared to Truegine 3SE. Even without earfins, they felt secure in my ears and are super comfortable for hours of use at the coffee shop.

However, I find that while exercising, there is a feeling they might fall off once you start to sweat. I really hope the manufacturer ship with earfins (wingtips) for extra secured fit for exercise. Other than that they have an IPX5 rating (dust/light water resistance) found on the product description shop page but nowhere on the box nor on the official website so be extra careful while using it.

The Soundpeats Sonic is equipped with a QCC3040 chipset and is Bluetooth 5.2. The Game mode is finally here and with a triple press you can reduced game latency to almost zero BUT sound quality will take a hike so remember to triple press again to exit before watching a movie or listen to music where sound quality is preferred. If entering a video or music while still on “game mode” you will notice reduced sound quality like the bass is non-existence and turning game-mod off won’t change anything until you close and restart the video or music player.

Button control:

  • Press and long hold til you hear the prompt for off or on

  • Press and quick hold for next track (right ear) and previous track (left ear)

  • Single press for play and pause

  • Double press for volume up (right ear) and volume down (left ear)

  • Triple press on the right for Voice Assistance

  • Triple press on the left for Game-mode on or off

Sound quality:

For my usage, I would say these sound excellent without any ANC (active noise cancelation). At 50% volume, It is plenty loud on both phone and laptop. The bass is clean and punchy without drowning out others. I have nothing bad to say about the sound of any type of music I’ve tried. I’m no audiophile but for me, these sound better than the TruEngine 3SE or TrueAir 2, and the game-mode is a game-changer for sure. The only thing is randomly right ear seems to enter game-mode or for whatever reason has very flat sound. I would have to reset the earbuds inside the case to fix it which is annoying. Phone calls are ok, not great due to this type of design but not a deal-breaker for me since I barely make calls these days.

Battery life:

The battery life is insanely good. There is no way you can drain this thing with real usage because your ears will fall off before they are out of battery. I tried to leave them playing on my nightstand, went to sleep, woke up with them still playing! The case also provides 2 full charges so the 35hrs of playtime claim by Soundpeats is definitely true. These got to be the longest-lasting earbud I’ve ever tried. The Qualcomm QCC3040 really helps with battery consumption.

Final thoughts:

I’ve been using the Soundpeats Sonic for over two weeks now and through many testing scenarios. There is nothing bad I can say about the earbuds except the few occasion where the right ear has a sound issue. When it does work though, It is hard to beat. With Game-mode control right on the earbud, I can finally recommend these to gamers. No need to enter an app to change to a game mode like many other brands. With great sound, beautiful design, and superb battery life, I must say these are Soundpeats’s best overall. For me the fit is good but if added earfin or ear-hook for extra secure fit for exercise, these would be perfect.
