The outer packaging had names/numbers of the color, but not on the actual lip stain tubes so I had to cut out the names from the cardboard packaging. I apologize for throwing the cardboard package away before taking photos. When I first spotted these liquid lipstick from the dollar store, they reminded me of Wet n Wild (WNW)'s Catsuit Liquid lipstick which retail for $5.99. Wet N Wild can get expensive if you wanted to collect the whole set. Mariposa lipcolors retail for only $1.25 in Canada, but are they any good? Let's find out.

Video clip: Wow zow! These are some incredibly waterproof lip stains!

This is the newest lip stain I found at Dollarama, I decided to add it in this review. It is a unique deep cool brown with grey undertones. It dried down to a dark flat matte color.

First heart swatch dried instantly with one layer. Second heart swatch was 2 coats & took a few minutes to dry down.

Here's what it looks like on my lips. It does appear a bit darker than this photo. Application was a bit tricky due to the skinny tip applicator.

Quantity: 6ml.

Ingredients:

Pros:

  • Bold, wearable, and pigmented colors.

  • Creamy matte, non-patchy.

  • Water-proof, extremely long-lasting.

  • Smells like vanilla.

  • Virtually transfer-proof.

  • Easy to glide wand applicator.

  • Affordable, can collect the whole set.

Cons:

  • Slight tacky feeling even when fully dried.

  • Can get drying after awhile.

  • Wears off unevenly.

  • Not available in all dollar stores.

  • Must be removed with coconut oil/makeup remover.

  • Color selection not as wide as other brands.

My thoughts: When I first applied these stains, I was amazed with the quality of pigment coming from a dollar store. The colors are beautiful and wearable for most skin tones. The lip stain tubes are clear so the color you see outside is what you get inside. And boy are they are waterproof! Warning: this must be removed with coconut oil or a heavy duty makeup remover. They last a long time on the lips, but with gradual wear, they start to fade due to smacking the lips/drinking/eating. Bringing a make up remover is a must if you are on the go, however, that may not be convenient. This lip stain should be fully removed before re-application. Despite being a 'cheap' product, it has not caused any adverse reactions on my lips.

If you ever come across this at the dollar-store, I recommend trying them because they are amazing. I think they need to come out with more colors, especially deeper ones. Overall, a surprising find! Note: The packaging has been changed the last time I've spotted these at the dollar store.

I look forward to comparing these gems with Liquid Catsuit by Wet N Wild soon. Thanks for dropping by.
